Snow Day

Today is the first time that the University of Idaho has been closed since Mt. St. Helens blew! It is quite exciting. I took some pictures to share but I was only brave enough to go out into the parking lot and no farther, I would have tried to get some shots of campus but it is very hard to see through all the snow that is still falling. I would say we got at least a foot of snow last night, but that is on top of the foot and a half that was already on the ground. IT IS JUST CRAZY.

The Eternal College Student

All throughout life we are constantly learning. Thus we are the eternal student. I however am officially the eternal COLLEGE student.

I learned on Friday that a change had been made in the Architecture program here at UI. The program has been lengthened from a 5 year masters program to 6 years. You cannot be certified to practice Architecture without a masters degree. This changes the dual major Interior Design/Architecture from a 6 year program to a 7 year program. I am currently considered a third year student in this program which means that I have 4 more years to go until I achieve both degrees. Because I had 2 years of community college before I came out here for school this means that I will have 9 years of college under my belt by the time I am finally done.

The change to the course schedules were made the year I transferred out here, I have tried and there is no way I can get around this change. The thing that really irks me is that for the past 2.5 years that I have been here I have been advised off of the 6 year dual major schedule. None of my advisers ever told me that this was wrong. (I’m not the only one, there are 3 dual majors in my class and we all had the wrong schedule.) There isn’t even an updated schedule in circulation!

So in this meeting on Friday it was decided that there would be one specialized adviser who truly knows the program and what is needed in order to graduate from it. My only thought on this is: ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Well if anyone wants to move out to Idaho and keep me company you know it would be greatly appreciated. My roommates (and most of my friends) are all likely graduating after next year and I am going to be left all alone.

I failed

Melissa and Ruth both wrote new blogs and I did not.
